July 14 - Granada, Spain - tapas and gypsy flamenco dancing!

Today was another long traveling day. We had lunch at a road side stop - where we witnessed a woman robbed of all their money and passport. She had left it in their car unlocked. They had grabbed it and sped off down the highway. Ted says that this kind of thing is common at these rest areas where families are travelling back to Morocco from Spain - loaded to the hilt with all their belongings to take back home. But, after our uneventful drive, we had a few hours when we arrived to wander the city of Granada. We enjoyed tapas at the local restaurant in the square by the cathedral near our hotel and decided to take a tour of the old city and take in a flamenco show performed in a cave by the gypsy dancers. They were so amazing!!! Late night!

outside Hotel Trinidad where we stayed in Granada - our view was this beautiful park.

loose teas - my favorite was banana caramel rooiboos - Curt's was the cannabis ;-)

Lost - but we have a map - just gotta figure out where the hotel is... None of the streets were straight!

Hybrid church. It starts gothic, then they add on during the more romantic era and then the modern. Lots of detail.

night tour of the old city in Granada - this is the Moorish section

view of Alhambra!

Getting ready for the flamenco dancers

cave decorated like a gypsy caravan - the board on the floor is for the dancer's shoes

Our group waiting anxiously - some more than others ;-)

It begins. There was a drummer, 2 guitarist, a singer (who sang the stories - but sadly we did not know the language, although she was very passionate) and  3 or 4 dancers.

she was our favorite

Had to resist the urge to giggle - he had that angry face the entire time - very passionate ;-)
